The Good News that Saves!

THE PROBLEM

We all have a problem, we do bad things. The Bible calls this sin. We can all think of a time when we have told someone something that was not true in order to not get in trouble. This is what is known as a lie. We can all think of a time when we have taken something that was not ours (the value of the object doesn’t matter). This is called stealing. If we are honest with ourselves, we can all think of an instance where we have sinned against others and against God. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” God says the punishment for sin is death in Romans 6:23a…”For the wages of sin is death…”. Death is eternal separation from God. God will not force man to live with Him eternally after this life is over. He wants man to choose Him, not eternal separation from Him in hell.

Revelation 20:14 KJV — And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

GOD’S PROVISION:

God provided a way for us to have eternal life with Him. Romans 6:23b says, “… but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord.”. This is the gospel (good news) for all people! God provided a way that man could never have thought of: God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to this earth to take the punishment for sin that we deserve. He did this by shedding his blood and dying on the cross for our sins. He was buried, then on the third day, He rose from the dead! This proved He truly was God in the flesh!(1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

THE PROPOSAL

All God asks of us is to believe this gospel (good news) by faith.

Romans 3:24 KJV — “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV — “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

All we must do is believe in what God through Jesus Christ did for us so that we might have eternal life with Him. There is nothing we can add to what Christ did that God accepts. No works (you would have something to boast in), no baptism (1 Cor.12:13, Eph 4:5), no committing your life (how do you know you’re dedicated enough?), no confessing your sins (you can’t remember them all), no trying to stop sinning first (it will never happen in this life).

Christ saves us where we are, helpless and in need of His mercy and grace.

Romans 5:8 KJV — But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Salvation is by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone! Trust the good news of salvation God offers you today before it is eternally too late!
